BREWER’S SUPPORT – FULL TIME
Position Overview
We are an award winning brewery located in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle focused on crafting lagers and mixed-culture saisons rooted in the Pacific Northwest. We are a small team and looking for a full time Production Support person with a passion for producing thoughtful mixed-culture beer and lagers. The right candidate will happily embrace a process that includes problem solving and opportunities for continual improvement, be familiar with a range of brewing techniques, and a have desire to learn.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Cellar management: Stainless steel and oak vessels, comprised of barrels, puncheons and foeders
- Keg washing and filling
- CIP/SIP of hot and cold side equipment
- Sanitary beer transfers
- Packaging operations: including mobile canning line, naturally carbonated kegs, cans, and bottles
- Warehouse tasks: labeling beer, organizing, and building outgoing orders
- Participation in professional organizations, conferences, and training opportunities
- Occasional travel for collabs and events.
Working conditions require:
- Ability to work effectively in a variety of conditions and with continuous, moderate noise levels.
- Routine pushing, pulling, climbing, stooping, reaching, bending, etc.
- Be able to lift 55 lb. bags and move 130 lb. 50L kegs
- Able to safely handle potentially dangerous chemicals
- Self-motivated and able to work independently (but willing to ask for guidance when uncertain)
- Aptitude to operate forklift, hand truck, pallet jack, and other warehouse equipment
Qualifications:
- 1-3 years professional brewing industry experience, with experience in the role of Cellar/Assistant Brewer/Packaging or comparable work experience preferred but not required.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to positively engage with others.
- A desire to learn and grow as a professional in our industry
- Basic understanding of beer production in a professional brewing environment including proper material handling and fermentation knowledge
- Mechanically inclined preferred (eg minor coopering, C02 line installation, keg washer troubleshooting etc)
- Work safely in all areas. Including but not limited to: Fork Lift operations, hot liquids, vessels under pressure, chemicals etc.
- Possess the ability to quickly assess situations and solve problems in a timely and effective manner.
- Highly organized with attention to detail and adherence to process
