Lora

a Piquette-inspired farmhouse ale with a field blend of berries

Often when brewing fruited beers, there is an astonishing amount of flavor left in the fruit after packaging. Wanting to breathe new life into a field blend of amazing raspberries, blackberries and cherries, we took cues from the wine industry’s production of piquette to create Lora.

A light, lean grisette brewed with Fritz Pilsner and White Club Wheat malt from Skagit Valley Malting provides an ideal backdrop for the delicate fruit character to shine. The fruit, once jammy and rich on the first pass, are now bright and sparkling on the palate along with hints of fresh herbs. A small portion of oak-aged farmhouse ale provides complexity and undertones of almond to round everything out.

We are inspired by the idea of reusing ingredients that have more to offer after their first run, rather than simply discarding. It allows for a unique finished product as well as the opportunity to keep our costs down and create beers that are as accessible as they are delicious.
